Article 1 (Scope)

These Terms apply to all relations between the User and the operator of the Service concerning use of the Service.

Article 2 (Account)

• The Service is for people who have an account with the language-learning app Lanbla and open the Service from the Lanbla app. The Service has no account registration of its own.
• Lanbla's Terms of Service also apply to your use of the Service.
• You are responsible for managing your Lanbla account and must not let third parties use it.

Article 3 (Prohibited conduct)

When using the Service, the User must not:

• Violate laws or public order and morals
• Access or attempt to access the Service's servers or network without authorization
• Decompile, disassemble or otherwise reverse-engineer the Service's source code
• Harm other users or third parties, or enter other people's personal information into conversations
• Use the AI conversation feature for purposes contrary to public order and morals, or to generate sexual, violent or discriminatory content
• Engage in any other conduct the operator deems inappropriate

Article 4 (Paid plans)

• In addition to the free plan, the Service offers paid plans with more conversation time (Lanbla Speak Basic / Lanbla Speak Plus). Prices and contents are as shown on the relevant screen in the app.
• Each plan has a conversation limit based on AI usage. An estimate of the limit (conversation minutes per month or per day) is shown in the app. Actual time varies with the content of the conversation.
• Paid plans are auto-renewing subscriptions and renew automatically on the same terms at the end of each period unless you cancel.
• Cancel from the subscription settings of your store (App Store / Google Play) at least 24 hours before the next renewal date. After cancellation you keep the paid plan until the end of the current period, and billing stops from the next renewal. Fees already paid are not refunded except as required by law.

Article 5 (AI conversations)

• Your conversation partner in the Service is an AI, and its replies, corrections, translations and hints are generated automatically. The operator does not guarantee their accuracy or appropriateness. Use them as a reference for language learning.
• AI replies may contain inaccurate information. Do not rely on them for important decisions.
• Conversation content may be summarized as the partner's "memory" and used in later conversations. Do not enter sensitive information such as full names, addresses or health details.

Article 6 (Intellectual property)

Intellectual property rights in the content provided by the Service (topics, design, programs, etc.) belong to the operator or to third parties holding legitimate rights. Rights in what you enter during conversations remain yours, and the operator may use it to the extent necessary to provide and improve the Service.

Article 7 (Disclaimer)

• The Service is provided as is, and we do not guarantee its completeness, accuracy or usefulness.
• The operator is not liable for damage you suffer from using the Service, except in cases of the operator's willful misconduct or gross negligence.

Article 8 (Changes, suspension and termination of the Service)

The operator may change the Service or suspend or end its provision without prior notice to users.

Article 9 (Changes to these Terms)

The operator may change these Terms without prior notice when it deems necessary. The revised Terms take effect when posted within the Service.

Article 10 (Governing law and jurisdiction)

These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any dispute concerning the Service is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the court having jurisdiction over the operator's location.

1. Information we collect

When you use the Service, we may collect the following information.

• Account information: the user identifier, email address and name we receive when you log in with Apple or Google (we never receive your password). When you open the Service from the Lanbla app, or use Lanbla with the same account, we also receive from Lanbla your Lanbla user identifier, display language, study language and Lanbla plan
• Learning settings: display language, study language and language level
• Conversation content: transcripts of what you said during practice, the AI's replies, corrections, translations and hints, saved sentences and words, and topics you created (roles and situation descriptions)
• Audio: recordings of your speech are sent for transcription only and are not stored on our servers once transcription is complete
• Conversation partner settings: the name, gender, relationship, personality, origin and bio of the partners you register, and the "things the partner remembers" that the AI summarizes from your conversations (a summary of what you told them)
• Purchase information: subscription status, expiry date and store type (we never receive amounts or card details)
• Device information: OS type (iOS / Android) and app version
• Usage: how much AI, speech recognition and text-to-speech you use (to manage limits and costs), sign-in times and error logs

2. How we use information

• To provide, maintain and improve the Service
• So that your conversation partners can talk with past conversations in mind (per-partner memory)
• To send the sentences and words you check on the summary screen to your Lanbla account
• To manage the usage limits of the free and paid plans, and to show ads
• To respond to inquiries
• To prevent abuse and respond to violations of the Terms of Service

3. Sharing with third parties

We do not provide personal information to third parties without your consent, except where required by law. The Service and Lanbla are provided by the same operator, and transfers between them are not third-party sharing.

4. External services

The Service uses the following external services. Each provider receives only the information needed to deliver its function.

• Anthropic (AI replies, corrections, translations and hints, suggested sentences to save, and partner memory summaries): conversation transcripts, study and display languages, language level, topic and partner settings, and partner memory
• OpenAI (speech recognition): recordings of your speech and cues such as the study language. The Service receives only the transcription
• Google Cloud Text-to-Speech (read-aloud): the text to be spoken, such as the AI's replies
• App Store / Google Play and RevenueCat (in-app purchases): purchase and subscription status and an anonymous user identifier issued by the Service
• Google AdMob (ads on the free plan): information needed to serve ads, such as advertising identifiers and device information. We show only non-personalized ads and never ask for permission to track you across apps
• YouTube (the introduction video on the Japanese page of our website): when you play the video, information needed for playback, such as device and browser information, is sent to YouTube (Google), and cookies or similar technologies may be used. The video is embedded in privacy-enhanced mode, so YouTube cookies are not used until you play it
• Lanbla (the language-learning app from the same operator): the sentences and words you check on the summary screen with their translations, and the conversation's title and date. They are saved in your Lanbla account as a "Conversation" folder

Please see each provider's privacy policy for how they handle information. If we add a new external service, we will update this policy.

5. Cookies

We use a cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use cookies for advertising. When you play the introduction video (YouTube) on the Japanese page of our website, YouTube (Google) may use cookies or similar technologies.

6. Retention and deletion

You can delete your conversation records, registered partners, saved sentences and words, and settings with "Delete my account" on the Name screen in Settings. If you delete your Lanbla account, the link between the Service and Lanbla is removed, but your data in the Service remains (you can delete it from "Delete my data" in the Service). Sentences and words already sent to Lanbla are Lanbla data and are governed by Lanbla's privacy policy. Usage records for AI, speech recognition and text-to-speech may be kept in a form that does not identify you.
